Shepherd’s Shelves Food Pantry
I would like to thank the church and our community in volunteering and supplying funds to help us to continue our ministry to give food to help people in our community so that they can use their funds to pay their rent, utilities and other things to sustain their families.
Our pantry is a part of the Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition. During this
pandemic the officers of the coalition have been collecting donations and filing for grants from different organization like Eli Lilly. Because of this, we have been receiving truck loads of food to hand out at our pantry. We have also had to expand to another room to house these donations.
Up till now the Gleaners Mobile Pantries that we host every other month has been manned by the National Guard. We are appreciative of these people to manage getting the pallets of food out of the truck and load the food into the cars. As of the end of September, the National Guard will no longer be available to help at the mobile
pantries. Our next mobile pantry will be November 7, and we will need volunteers to help load the food in the cars. All the food will still be boxed so that we can allow the cars to drive through. The volunteers helping to load the cars will need to be able to lift boxes between 20-40 pounds.
We are so thankful to be a part of the Hendricks County Food Coalition and to be an agent of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Because of the we are able to get food at very discounted prices and sometimes the food is free of charge.
If you know of anyone in our community that is having problems keeping up with their monthly bills, please send them our way so that we can relieve them from paying for all of their groceries so that they can use their funds where it is most needed.
Our pantry is open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10:00am until noon. Our next Gleaners Mobile Pantry will be on November 7 (also 10am – noon)
Thanks again for all your help,
New Scout Troop
We at Pittsboro Christian Church are proud to be the charter organization for a new branch of Scouting. Troop #319 is the first all-girl Scout Troop in Pittsboro. The 12 girls in the troop are now part of an international legacy that has heretofore been exclusively male. Congratulations to Troop #319!
Meetings are at the church on the 4th Monday of each month.
We welcome Rita Scales to PCC! She recently transferred her membership from Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
We also welcome back Rev. Donna Herring as she re-affirmed her faith in God and membership in Pittsboro Christian Church.
